Warning: Spoiler Blue Beetle: Graduation #2 After decades of having some of the most controversial costume designs in superhero comics, Starfire is finally getting the look it deserves. Starfire is a true warrior and one of the giants’ heavy hitters, and now she has armor to back it up.
Starfire appears in new skin at green beetle: Graduation Date #2 Josh Trujillo, Adrian Gutierrez, Will Quintana and Lucas Gattoni. Although Blue Beetle Jaime Reyes was “landed” by Superman due to an alien threat, Starfire showed up on his doorstep, claiming that “The planet is preparing for war.“
Along with this obvious call for help, Starfire gets a new look: She keeps her classic purple and green color scheme while adding armored sleeves and most notably pants. Her signature fiery hair is curled around her body, returning to its original curly style.
Starfire’s new outfit pays homage to her warrior roots
Starfire, also known as Princess Koriand’r of Tamaran, is a warrior princess often associated with the Teen Titans and Titans. She has had many outfits over the years, most of them very revealing. Her most iconic outfit is of course her first, designed by the late George Perez, who co-created Starfire with Marv Wolfman. Two of the character’s most recent appearances Teen Titans Academy And night wing, she wears a purple bodysuit that reveals her legs—her bare feet are a consistent design choice throughout her decades-long history. But this is the first time Starfire has had a complete outfit and that’s exactly what the warrior princess deserves.
While revealing outfits have become a big part of Starfire’s personality—nothing can compare to Pérez’s original design, especially when respected—it’s exciting to see her in real armor, especially in the story where she’s clearly preparing for war. Starfire is a fun character, but she’s also a pragmatic fighter and one of the strongest characters in the DC Universe. It just means that she has at least one outfit that respects those aspects of her personality.
But one of the best parts of this new character design comes from green beetle Artist Adrian Gutierrez is Starfire’s fierce curls that used to be a featured element of her designs and now seems to be back here, appearing on the cover of Travis Moore’s variation of the Titans. penguin, Starfire will once again be a recurring character.
