Sophie Marceau is a French actress, screenwriter, and director. Moreover, Sophie Marceau rose to fame with her initial movies ‘La Boum’ and ‘La Boum 2’. Early life

Sophie Danièle Sylvie Maupubest known as Sophie Marceau was born on the 17th November of 1966, in Paris, France. According to her date of birth, she is 55 years old and holds French nationality. She has a birth sign of Scorpio and her ethnical background is unknown.

Moreover, she is the daughter of Benoît Maupu (father) and Simone Morisset (mother). Professionally, her father was a truck driver while her mother Simone worked as a shop assistant. She spent her childhood living with her brother Sylvain, who is also an actor.

Two years later, she appeared in both the historical adventure film ‘Chouans’ and the comedy film ‘L’Étudiante’ (The Student).

She later appeared in the film ‘My Nights Are More Beautiful Than Your Days,’ directed by her then-boyfriend Andrzej Zulawski. In 1990, this actress appeared in the French-American comedy ‘Pacific Palisades,’ as well as the drama ‘La note bleue.’ A year later, she made her stage debut in the play ‘Eurydice.’ She  came to global prominence in 1993 and 1994 with her films ‘Fanfan’ and ‘Revenge of the Musketeers.’

During the same period, she also appeared in the drama ‘Pygmalion’ as Eliza Doolittle. Moreover, her global popularity further increased in 1995 when she played Princess Isabelle in the epic war film ‘Braveheart’. That same year, she appeared in the French movie ‘Beyond the Clouds’ and also began writing her semi-autobiographical novel titled ‘Menteuse’ (Telling Lies).

Other movies and debut as a director

In 1997, she appeared in the films, ‘Firelight,’ ‘Marquise,’ and ‘Anna Karenina.’ Two years later, she played Hippolyta in the fantasy film ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream.’ In 1999, she portrayed Elektra King in the British spy film ‘The World Is Not Enough.’ She reunited with her then-boyfriend Zulawski in 2000 for the film ‘Fidelity,’ in which she portrayed a photojournalist.

Following that, she made her directing debut with ‘Speak to Me of Love,’ a feature film that earned her the Best Director award at the Montreal World Film Festival. She has continued to perform a broad range of parts, usually in French films. In the 2004 drama film ‘Nelly,’ she portrayed a widowed nurse.

A year later, she played an undercover cop in the romantic thriller ‘Anthony Zimmer.’ In ‘Trivial,’ she played the disturbed daughter of a murdered movie star. She was cast in the historical drama film ‘Female Agents,’ and the comic film LOL in 2008. (Laughing Out Loud).

The following year, she co-starred in the thriller ‘Don’t Look Back’ with Monica Bellucci.
