More than six months after she and Joe Manganiello called it quits after seven years of marriage, Sofia Vergara is opening up about the divorce.
During his recent appearance on CBS Sunday morning, he Modern Family The star reflected on the decision to end the marriage. “You’re out there [in the public eye] and people know that that is part of being a celebrity,” he explained. “I knew it was going to happen. “You can’t hide those things.”
While talking about how she overcame public scrutiny surrounding the split, Sofia Vergara said the media coverage she received wasn’t bad. “I think I have to say that the press was very respectful and very kind. And I thought they were going to invest more things, and you know how it usually is.”
Vergara also admitted that she was also surprised by the coverage. “They just said what it was and that was it,” she noted. “And, you know, I’ve moved on.”
Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello issued a statement in mid-July regarding their divorce. “We have made the difficult decision to divorce,” the statement said, according to Page Six. “As two people who love and care deeply for each other, we politely ask for respect for our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”
Since announcing the divorce, Manganiello has dated Caitlin O’Connor, whom he reportedly met at a party after the HBO series. Time to win. Vergara was treated by orthopedic surgeon Justin Saliman in October 2023.

In August 2020, Joe Manganiello opened up about his marriage to Sofía Vergara and how his “instincts” were right when he spent the rest of his life with her.
“I knew quickly that I could trust her,” he explained. “And he quickly knew he could trust me. And we are both the type of people who are able to put the other person before ourselves. I was capable of putting her desires before mine, whatever they were, and she was capable of doing the same. “Once you have it, you don’t let go.”
Sofía Vergara and Joe Manganiello got engaged in December 2014 after six months of dating. They married almost a year later, in November 2015. Manganiello filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
According to Us Weekly, the duo had a prenuptial agreement. While going through the divorce process, Vergara had asked the court in August 2023 for her to enforce the agreement and assets. This included artwork, jewelry and “other personal effects” under her ownership.
