Soccer player struck by lightning and killed during the match

A soccer game turned into a tragedy. Lightning struck a soccer player in Indonesia and killed him during a match. The man was in the field when lightning struck and a camera captured the entire terrifying incident.

According to TMZ, authorities identified Septtain Raharja as the murdered man. Raharja had been playing a friendly at the Siliwangi stadium. He played for FBI Subang. He was walking through the field when he was struck by lightning. Raharja collapsed instantly and his teammates rushed to his aid.

Despite immediate assistance, Raharja’s injuries proved fatal. She suffered severe burns from the lightning blast. Although he was still alive immediately afterwards, the footballer later died at a local hospital.

Fans and players pay tribute to the deceased footballer

The incident shocked both the team’s players and fans. Several people took to social media to express their condolences to Raharja. Football icon Cristian González also sent his support and good wishes to Raharja and his family.

On Instagram, people paid tribute to Raharja and his memory and FBI Subang shared a photo of the deceased athlete. One person wrote: “My deepest condolences to everyone. May the deceased be placed in the best place with Allah SWT… Amen.”

Raharja’s death comes after another incident last year. Another footballer in Indonesia also suffered a lightning strike. Lightning struck the athlete during the U-13 Soeratin Cup, but he survived the incident.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the chances of being struck by lightning are less than one in a million. Additionally, almost 90 of those struck by lightning survive their encounter with nature. In a given year in the United States, 40 million lightning strikes strike the ground.

However, people die from lightning. Over a 15-year period (2006 to 2021), 444 people died from lightning strikes in the United States.
