MLAs arrested in horse-trading case
In 2012, Sita Soren was accused of taking bribe to vote for a particular candidate in the 2012 Rajya Sabha elections, for which a case was filed against her in the Jharkhand High Court. In 2014, Sita Soren filed a petition in the High Court to quash the criminal proceedings initiated against her, claiming that she enjoyed immunity under Article 194(2) of the Constitution; However, his petition was rejected. In 2014, during the CBI investigation, Seetha kidnapped her assistant as he turned government witness and was later recovered from his residence, leading to a kidnapping case registered against her. He was sent to jail in February 2014.

- Sita Soren is always in the headlines for her derogatory comments and allegations against her family members including Hemant Soren. In January 2024, after Hemant Soren was arrested by the ED, Sita Soren created a rift among the ruling coalition party MLAs. Senior MLAs reportedly held a meeting in Ranchi, where they accused Hemant Soren’s wife Kalpana Soren. Wanted to make him the next chief. Minister of Jharkhand; However, despite being MLAs from the party, some other MLAs including Sita protested by not attending the meeting.
