I was very spoiled by my family and I also experienced a very sweet family life. My parents gave enough freedom to our daughters, as you can see I did not have any arranged marriage, my three sisters were married at the age of 23 and have their own families. And although my parents were separated, not divorced, they stayed together for the sake of the children, to give us a working family, a warm home. I think this is also one of the reasons why I have a strong family feeling and was willing to give up my career for my family. When I decided to come to Germany, everyone around me warned me and said that it might be difficult for me to live without all the things I used to have in India, servants etc. and do all the household work. By now I have got used to it and enjoy it, I even enjoy traveling in trains and buses as well as learning the language.

Controversy
Father accused of harassing for property
In 2015, she moved to India from Germany and moved into her parents’ house, where her father was living alone after her mother passed away. According to her father, Shweta started misbehaving with him within a few months of her moving into their house and also insulted the two maids who were taking care of her for over 26 years. He also asked for a share in his father’s property. After the Welfare Tribunal and the Deputy Collector of Mumbai evicted her from her father’s flat, she filed a petition in the Bombay High Court challenging the order of the Welfare Tribunal and the Deputy Collector and sought her share in the same. After some hearing, the Bombay High Court issued an order which read,
As long as the father is alive, the singer has no right to claim a share in his property. Shweta asks for her share. What is his ‘part’ while he is alive? He doesn’t have anyone. He (the father) can actually give away his flat and all his property forever. That’s his choice. She can’t stop him from doing so. As long as he is alive, Shweta has no ‘share’ in his property. Every day we receive complaints from senior citizens that their own sons and daughters are harassing them. In every case, harassment is an attempt to usurp the property of senior citizens during their lifetime by any means without any thought for the mental or physical health, welfare or happiness of these senior citizens.

I did not kill or hurt anyone, I did not take anyone’s money or property, nor did I speak ill of anyone. I just expressed my views.
