Shreya Lenka, also known as Shriya, was born on Monday, 15 September 2003 (age 18 years; as in 2021) in Rourkela, Odisha. Her zodiac sign is Virgo.

She wanted to learn music since childhood. His deep voice often became a hindrance in finding a voice teacher. Then his grandmother took him to a Hindustani classical music teacher, who taught him music twice a week. However, he took training in Western music by watching online videos. Shreya has been taking dance training since kindergarten. However, she began training seriously in dance in 2016. He started learning Odissi for one and a half years but left it because it was expensive. He was first trained by Madan Mohan Purti, who won Boogiewoogie Hip Hop in 2009. When his father was transferred to Jharsuguda, he joined the dance studio of renowned choreographer, fitness instructor and dance studio owner Mendo Barla.
She is training in freestyle, hip-hop and contemporary dances. Due to the lockdown in India in 2021, he had to leave one year of studies after passing 10th class. When she had to go to South Korea as a Kpop trainee, she decided to enroll in 11th grade.

Competition for the Black Swan
In June–July 2020, in a series of Instagram posts by members of the Kpop girl group Rania, it was announced that Rania would be reforming as ‘Black Swan’. Rania’s three old members, Younghun, Leia and Hyem, as well as two new members, Judy and Fatou, were named Blackswans.

On November 9, 2020, Hime was in controversy after being accused of scamming a friend out of 50 million KRW (about US$44,800). The following day, DR Music announced Haime’s departure due to a dispute and the termination of her contract with the agency. On May 10, 2021, global auditions for the new member of BlackSwan were announced by DR Music. Shreya participated in the global auditions and for the first round of auditions, she sent a dance video and song video. She jumped with joy when BlackSwan members announced her name after the first round. She was one of 23 applicants selected from 4,000 applicants from around the world in July. Talking about this in an interview he said,
My name was announced after the eighteen girls, so I thought I needed to practice day and night to reach the top spot. I had difficulty finding the right song. I took some pictures and sent them to my teacher. Although he doesn’t listen to English songs or K-pop, he said one of my songs was good, so I trusted him and sent it to DR Music.
The second round of auditions took place when there was a partial lockdown in Odisha; Studios and gyms were closed so he shot the video and sent it publicly following the protocols. Of the 23 candidates, 4 were selected in the second round for training in South Korea; Shreya was one of them. Two girls decided to drop out, leaving Brazil’s Shreya and Gabriela Dalsin to struggle to become Kpop idols. In December 2021, she went to South Korea for six months of training at DR Music to vie to become the fifth member of BlackSwan.

- She is a yoga practitioner, which she learned gradually as she comes from a family of yoga fanatics. His uncle and aunt are yoga teachers, and doing yoga is a morning family routine. He has also won many yoga competitions. according to him,
When I discovered that yoga asanas could improve my body language and flexibility, I started practicing them more. I am more interested in the creative field, so when my family said that I can make a career in it, I started trying harder.

- Her parents always encouraged her to pursue her passion for dance. According to her parents, Lenka was always hard-working and focused. During her school days, she would go for her dance training after reaching home from school at 2.30 pm and never return before 9 pm.
- According to her mother, she wanted to dance but could not do so because her father disapproved of it. She didn’t know whether her daughter would become a K-pop idol or not, but she was happy that Shreya was living her dream.
- His interest in Kpop grew when a friend showed him the song ‘Growl’ by Kpop boyband Exo. He fell in love with Kpop and started copying their moves. She soon learned about PSY, Rania, BTS, Blackpink and wanted to become an idol herself.

Dance studios were not open, so she had to shoot in a yoga studio where her aunt taught yoga. She did not qualify for the audition, but received positive reviews, which caused her to face rejection during all other auditions. While talking about auditioning in an interview he said,
With each audition, I tried to improve myself by monitoring the videos.
- She took a year off to work hard at singing and auditioned for various companies to become a Kpop idol trainee. He learned English novels to improve his vocabulary and listened to English songs to improve his pronunciation. She also opened her own YouTube channel and learned how to shoot and edit her dance videos. Her YouTube channel, Shreya Lenka Dance, has 19.7K subscribers, and she posts dance videos and song covers on her channel.

- If Shreya becomes a member of BlackSwan, she will be the third person from India to become a Kpop idol. The first is reportedly Sid aka Siddhant Arora (from Uttar Pradesh), a former member of multi-national Z-pop group, Z-Boys. The other is Priyanka Majumdar (from Assam), who is a member of Z-Girls, the female counterpart of Z-Boys. Both came from Z POP, a talent hunt show to promote Kpop in Asia.
