Shravan Kumar Rathod aka Shravan Rathod was born on Saturday, 13 November 1954 (age 66 years at the time of death) in Mumbai, India. Their zodiac sign is Scorpio. Shravan Rathod became interested in music because his father was a master of classical music. Shravan started practicing at an early age under the guidance of his father.

Shravan Rathod’s father’s name is Pandit Chaturbhuj Rathod, who was a playback singer. He has two brothers, Roop Kumar Rathod and Vinod Rathod.

Shravan made his debut in the music industry as a musician in 1972 with another musician Nadeem Saifi and together they formed the iconic duo Nadeem-Shravan. The first composition created by the duo was the song ‘Kashi Hile, Patna Hile’ for the Bhojpuri film Dangal (1979). This song was sung by popular playback singer Manna Dey. In 1985, Nadeem-Shravan released the first commercial project ‘Star Ten’ and the songs in the album were composed using flute, sitar and shehnai. The songs of the album were sung by Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff and many other famous actors. Nadeem and Shravan recorded their first independent song under Gulshan Kumar’s T-Series recording label. Later, he composed a complete album of songs for the film Aashiqui, directed by Mahesh Bhatt. Over the years, Nadeem-Shravan have composed music for many Hindi films, such as Saajan (1991), Deewana (1992), Raja (1995), Raja Hindustani (1996), Raaz (2002) and many others. The two had worked together in over 150 films, but in 2005 they decided to part ways and Shravan focused on building his son’s career in the Hindi film industry.

Death
On 19 April 2021, Shravan Rathod tested positive for the COVID-19 virus and was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai. Unfortunately, he passed away on 22 April 2021 due to multiple organ failure and cardiac arrest. This news was confirmed by his son Sanjeev, who said-
My father tested positive after visiting the Kumbh Mela in Haridwar. We never thought that our family would have to go through such a difficult time, my father passed away, I am Covid positive and so is my mother. My brother is also positive and is in home isolation, but since our father has died, he is being allowed to perform the last rites of our father.
Facts/General Knowledge
- Shravan is a spiritual and religious person by nature and he practices meditation. They believe that this helps them improve their efficiency at work.
- In an interview, Shravan said that his subconscious mind always creates rhythm for music and he writes that tune. He told during the interview that for this reason both of them have composed more than a thousand songs in the last few years.
- In 1990, the compositions composed by Nadeem-Shravan were facing tough times as none of them became superhit songs. To earn money, Shravan decided to start a readymade clothing business named ‘Composer’s Collection’.
- The duo was responsible for the music direction for the 2002 thriller Raaz. The music composed by him was also appreciated by English singer, composer, film producer and lyricist Sir Paul McCartney.
