Shelby Bain is a Canadian dancer, singer and actress. Shelby Bain is best known for playing the role of Amy on the Family Channel mockumentary drama series ‘The Next Step’ since its fourth season in 2016.
Early life and childhood
Shelby Bain came into this world on July 28, 2001, as Shelby Micara Bain. As of 2020, she is 19 years old. She is from Canada and holds Canadian nationality. Her father’s name is Michael Bain and her mother’s name is Tara Bain. Her middle name, ‘Micara’, was formed by combining the names of her parents. Additionally, she has a brother named Connor.
She attended public school in Whitby, where she completed her eighth grade graduations with honors and was valedictorian of her class. She then enrolled at Rosedale School of the Arts in Toronto and also trained at Dance Inc. in Ajax, Ontario.

Shelby Bain – Career
Shelby started dancing when she was only four years old. She then trained in ballet, jazz, lyrical, tap, contemporary, hip-hop and acro at Jeremy Nasmith’s Dance TEQ Center. Bain also took gymnastics lessons once a week at Durham Elite Cheer.
Additionally, she is very fond of lyrical and acro dancing and her favorite dance move is the “scorpion” (also known as the “fork”). She is also a trained gymnast. She knows how to sing and also play the bass clarinet. Furthermore, Bain started her career as a dancer and performed in several prestigious events which helped her get opportunities to perform on television as well.
However, she first acted in the lead role of Scarlett in a Humber College student horror film titled ‘Wretched’, in 2011. She filmed the short film when she was eight or nine years old, but stopped acting for a while to focus on competitive dancing.
