Serena Williams reveals she donated her breast milk to ‘amazing women’ in need

Serena Williams is helping women in need by donating her extra breast milk.

On Wednesday, the tennis icon revealed that she donated her leftover breast milk from a recent trip to New York. “After going through a screening I was able to donate it instead of taking the milk home,” Williams wrote in the caption of an Instagram post. “I know so many amazing women who adopt or can’t produce milk. “It felt amazing.”

“By the way, someone is getting super soldier milk,” he added with a giggling emoji.

In the video, Serena Williams opens her freezer to reveal dozens of bags of breast milk. She explained that she is “so excited” to donate the milk to “people who really need it.”

Whoever receives the tennis superstar’s donation will have no idea that they are in possession of the “super soldier’s” breast milk. “It will be anonymous,” she explained. “But I’m really excited to be able to help in some way.”

In the short time since the video was posted, Serena Williams has received thousands of likes and responses. Many took advantage of the comments to make friendly jokes about the athlete’s breast milk.

“Someone’s newborn is about to do a headstand in his bassinet!” one user responded with a laugh. “Some kids’ backlash just got stronger,” said another.

Meanwhile, the gesture shocked those who have experienced their own problems with breast milk. “As a mother of twins in the NICU who needed donor milk while waiting for mine to arrive, thank you for donating,” someone said.

Serena Williams is a proud mother of two children

This same year, Williams and Ohanian brought a second daughter, Adira River Ohanian, into the world. Adira is now 4 months old.

Before announcing her second pregnancy, Serena Williams revealed that she was quitting tennis to focus on raising children.

In an essay written for Fashion In September 2022, she shared that her eldest daughter, Olympia, said she wanted to be a “big sister” when she grew up. As one of five sisters, Williams was deeply touched by the sentiment.

“I am the youngest of five sisters,” she wrote. “And my sisters are my heroes, so this was a moment I have to listen to very carefully.”
