Secret Headquarters, Paramount Pictures’ next superhero movie, is approaching its release date. The official trailer for the film starring Owen Wilson was released about three weeks ago and will premiere on Paramount+ on Friday, August 12, 2022 at 3 a.m. ET. The follow-up film, directed by horror filmmakers Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman (known for Paranormal Activity 3, Paranormal Activity 4, and Nerves), also brings news to a young cast, including up-and-coming actor Walker Scobell from Netflix’s Adam Project. The film’s director duo, along with writers Christopher Yost and Josh Koenigsberg, also contributed to the script for Secret Staff.
The plot revolves around Charlie and his teenage friends, who discover a secret class of superheroes, imitating the famous “Batcave”, in his basement. When the “headquarters” is attacked by invaders, this young team will try to protect them. According to the official synopsis:
“Charlie and his friends are hanging out after school when they discover the headquarters of the most powerful superhero in the world hidden under his house. When the villains attack, the heroes must unite to protect the headquarters and save the planet.”

Secret Headquarters: Plot, Trailer and more revealed ahead of Paramount+ launch.
The teaser, which was released on July 15, 2022, reveals only some interesting elements about the film, leaving viewers to expect suspense and drama. It opens with a series of short films about young Charlie Kincaid (Scobell), who believes his father (Wilson) is simply an ordinary person and not a superhero dubbed “the protector of the world”.
“My father can’t eat hot wings,” the child declared, unwilling to accept the possibility. When a father’s “emergency work” forces him to cancel plans with the child, he and his friends end up in a rage at home alone. Charlie discovers, through a series of amusing diversions, that his father has a Batman-style bunker at home with hi-fi equipment, gadgets, superhero clothing, and cars.
MCU fans will recognize traces of nostalgia in Secret Headquarters.
When Wilson first appeared in the Secret Agent trailer, he wore an outfit similar to the famous Robert Downey Jr. Iron Man in the movies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Wilson has the perfect opportunity to intervene and save the day when some villains force Kincaid and his friends to leave. Wilson eventually reveals to his son that he is a superhero chosen by an “alien entity” to be the protector of Earth. If the Secret Service trailer is any indication, the film may have some similarities to Robert Rodriguez’s 2001 thriller Spy Kids, about a group of teenagers who discover their parents work for a foreign intelligence organization.
The trailer also hints that the film will depend on the promise and charm of young actors to weave an interesting story that has so far felt like a fun and uncomplicated Marvel movie, while also guaranteed to captivate MCU fans with CGI and new allusions. The undercover staff also included Jesse Williams, Keith L. Williams, Michael Pea and Charles Melton, along with Wilson and Scobell.
