Lawyers representing Sean “Diddy” Combs filed a motion to dismiss sections of a lawsuit accusing him of sexual assault. They argue that certain allegations are not legally applicable at the time the alleged incident occurred.
Court records reviewed by TMZ reveal that a motion filed in a New York court claims that Diddy cannot be sued, since the cited laws did not exist at the time Joi Dickerson-Deal made accusations against him in 1991.
Lawyers for the music mogul are seeking to dismiss parts of Dickerson-Deal’s claims, including revenge porn and human trafficking, with prejudice.
She accused Combs of deliberately drugging her, then taking her to his home and sexually assaulting her after a date in Harlem. At the time, she was a 19-year-old college student.
The lawsuit claims that, unbeknownst to her, Combs recorded the assault. He also claims that he subsequently distributed the video to several music industry acquaintances. He denied the claims. Her legal team argued that she was exploiting New York law that briefly extended the statute of limitations.
Dickerson-Deal’s allegations emerged nearly thirty years after the alleged misconduct. Combs’ attorneys noted that the New York State Revenge Porn Law, under which the claims were made, was not established until 2019. Additionally, they highlighted additional relevant legislation, such as the Victim Services Act. New York Human Trafficking, which was enacted. in 2007.

Last month, federal authorities raided Combs’ properties in Los Angeles and Miami as part of a sex trafficking investigation. This criminal investigation marks a significant intensification of scrutiny on Diddy. Of course, he has previously been named as a defendant in multiple sexual abuse lawsuits.
In a legal battle that was resolved the day after his November performance, Combs faced accusations from his former protégé and girlfriend, R&B artist Cassie. She filed a lawsuit against him, alleging prolonged sexual abuse, including rape. According to the lawsuit, he forced her to engage in sexual acts with prostitutes, which she then recorded.
In February, a music producer filed a lawsuit accusing Combs of pressuring him to hire prostitutes. They also allege that Diddy forced him to engage in sexual activity with them. Additionally, another accuser, a woman, accused Combs of raping her twenty years ago, when he was 17.
Combs and his legal team have refuted all allegations made in the lawsuits. The veteran rapper and mogul has been spotted several times appearing carefree in public.
