Satish Kumar Yadav is an Indian amateur boxer. He is the first Indian boxer to qualify for the Olympics in the super heavyweight (+91 kg) category.

Satish Kumar was born on Thursday, 4 May 1989 (age 32 years; as in 2021) in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. His zodiac sign is Taurus. When Satish was a teenager, one of his elder brothers served in the Indian Army. Inspired by him, Satish decided to join the Indian Army. In 2008, he joined the Indian Army as a soldier. He was posted in Ranikhet, Uttarakhand, where he was noticed because of his tall physique at a boxing camp and the boxing trainers forced him to try the sport. Although Kumar was good at sports in his early years, interested in cricket and hockey, he never thought of pursuing a career in sports.

Family
His father is a farmer in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. There is not much information about his mother. He has three brothers. One of his elder brothers is in the Indian Army.

Satish started his career as a soldier in the Indian Army in 2008. He started professional boxing at the age of 19. He participated in various local and state level boxing competitions and made his debut at the national level at the age of 21. In 2011, Satish won a silver medal in the Senior National Boxing Championships.
In 2012, he defeated Praveen Kumar in the final of the Indian National Championships and won the gold medal. He entered international boxing in 2013. She won a bronze medal at the Korotkov Memorial Tournament in Russia in 2013 and represented India at the ASBC Asian Continental Championships in Amman, Jordan.
The same year, she competed at the AIBA World Championships in Almaty, Kazakhstan, but was declared medically unfit in the pre-quarterfinal bout due to injury, ultimately settling for a silver medal.
Satish soon returned to the sport and won a bronze medal at the 2014 Asian Games held in Ichon and then a bronze medal at the 2015 Asian Boxing Championships in Bangkok. Rio Olympics was a big setback for Satish as he suffered a serious injury due to which he was ruled out of the Olympics. In 2018, Satish won a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games.
The same year, he won the gold medal at the Grand Prix Ustinád Labem in the Czech Republic. She also won a silver medal at the inaugural Indian Open. In 2020 he won a ticket to the Tokyo Olympics; Became the first Indian heavyweight boxer (91 kg category) to qualify for the Olympics. The Olympics were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Apart from boxing, he is also serving in the Indian Army. Satish is included in the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) of the Government of India. He is also associated with JWS Sports.
