Sarala Bedi (1925–2013) was an Indian priest who founded the Arya Samaj, a reformist faction of Sanatan Dharma in Toronto, Canada. She was known as the Arya Samajist of Canada. He died on 15 November 2013 in Toronto, Canada, after suffering from arthritis.

Sarla Bedi was born on Saturday, 4 April 1925 (age 88 years at death) in Sahnewal, Ludhiana, Punjab (India). When Sarala was young, she moved from India to Kenya with her family during a severe economic recession. There, he spent his childhood in an isolated colony, learning to paint and participating in debates and lectures on the Indian independence movement. Due to Sarla’s mother’s ill health and her father’s struggle for employment, she had to give up her dream of studying law in England. In 1972, Sarala decided to move to Toronto, Canada due to South African political unrest and increasing violence against Indians.

Sarla took the responsibility of household chores at the age of 18. To support her family and educate her younger brothers, she became a teacher in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. She continued to participate in public debates related to the struggle for independence of Indians and their social issues.

In 1972, she moved to Toronto, Canada. Sarala, along with her husband, became the founder of the Arya Samaj, a Hindu reform movement started by Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati in 1875. His organization promoted social work and helped Indian immigrants to settle down. In 1976, Sarala became the first female Hindu priest in Ontario. Sarala was considered an eminent counselor in both spiritual and social matters. He began conducting holy baptisms, mixed-religious marriages and funerals in the community. By 1996, the Canada-based Arya Samaj had built a Vedic Cultural Center in Markham, which now serves as a center for all types of cultural and communal activities for both senior citizens and children.

On November 15, 2013, he died in Toronto, Canada, after suffering from arthritis and a hospital-acquired infection.

- Apart from following a healthy diet, Sarla loved Indian sweets like gulab jamun.
- On November 21, 2009, Sarla Bedi was one of six members honored at the Vedic Cultural Center in Markham for her significant contributions and services to the development of the Arya Samaj in Canada.
