Sara Jacob is an Indian journalist and news editor. She is best known for hosting NDTV 24×7’s flagship primetime show ‘We The People’. Sara resigned from her post at NDTV on 22 May 2023 after working in the channel for almost 22 years.

Sara Jacob, also known as Priya Sara Jacob, was born on Wednesday, 8 August 1984 (age 39 years; as in 2023) in Kerala. His zodiac sign is Leo. She grew up in various metropolitan cities across India as her father was an army personnel. Sara did her schooling at St. Mary’s School, Delhi from 1995 to 1999. Although her grandmother wanted her to become a doctor, Sara completed her 11th and 12th classes in humanities because she was very fond of reading books. When Sara was studying in class 12, Lady Shri Ram College for Women started a new program in journalism. Sara appeared for the entrance examination for the program and was one of the 18 students who were selected for the program. Sara earned her bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Delhi, from 1999 to 2002. Soon, he got a job in NDTV. Meanwhile, he pursued a Post Graduate Diploma in Social Communications Media (2002–2003). In 2005, she graduated from New York University on a full scholarship with a Master of Science in Broadcast and Documentary Journalism. During her post-graduation studies, Sarah was awarded the Sidney Gross Award for Entrepreneurial Journalism.

livelihood
Sara Jacob started her career as a news reporter and anchor at NDTV, New Delhi in June 2003. Initially, he covered areas such as health, crime and education.
She worked there till January 2004 and then moved to New York to pursue post-graduation. In June 2005, Sara joined NDTV as US Bureau Chief in New York, United States. Working in the United States, Sara covered presidential elections twice, first in 2008 and again in 2012. She is one of the first journalists from India to visit Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, working as an anchor for the half-hour show Inside Guantanamo. Program on the politics behind the Guantanamo Bay detention facilities. Jacob also covered the Oscars red carpet. Sara also reported on a range of stories from the India-US nuclear deal and the US Open to the G-20 summit.
In 2010, Jacobs was certified as the White House Traveling Press accompanying President Obama and reported on his first state visit to India. Sara also interviewed many popular personalities like Bill Gates, Salman Rushdie and Evan Williams. She worked as a US correspondent until June 2013 and then returned to India, where she began working with NDTV as a senior editor and anchor. As an anchor, Sara Jacob hosted the prime-time shows Crime and the City and NewsFirst@10 with Sara Jacob.
Jacob reported extensively on health and the environment. He also worked as a news reporter for a series called Save India’s Coast, as part of which he traveled the entire coastline of India and reported on the environmental destruction taking place along it. Subsequently, he worked as an anchor and producer on the weekly show ‘We the People’, a flagship program of New Delhi Television (NDTV). The show was an audience-based program that discussed the most relevant social and political issues of the time. Sara would often welcome primary stakeholders on the show and sit them down one-on-one with civil society members to discuss a particular issue in its entirety. As the show’s producer and host, she oversaw all aspects from the development of the show’s concept to the final packaging of the show. In January 2020, he opted for part-time work with NDTV.
Resignation from NDTV
On 22 May 2023, Sara Jacob resigned from her post at NDTV after presenting a program in which PM Narendra Modi was presented as a great messiah for women. His resignation came amid widespread criticism of his news bulletin in which he praised PM Narendra Modi for being respectful towards women. Soon after the news bulletin, a clip went viral on social media in which Sara was anchoring a news and reading – How Modi respects women. Many called it an agenda-driven news bulletin.
Announcing her decision to leave NDTV, Sarah Jacob tweeted,
Last night, I resigned from NDTV. Thank you to Dr. (Pranay) Roy and Radhika Roy for building one of the great media houses of India.
Further, describing his journey with NDTV as wonderful, he wrote,
It was wonderful to work in various positions in NDTV from 2001 to 2023. From being a reporter to having my own show, it has been rewarding and I am forever grateful for what NDTV has given me and is still giving me. Living amidst the most glorious years of the boom of the Indian TV news industry, that too at NDTV, which has set the standards of excellence for the industry, has been a magical career so far.
Apparently, in an internal communication to the NDTV team, he described the organization as
An amazing newsroom filled with the most creative and inspired journalists.”
He also said that it is an honor for him to work with the best. Sara became the ninth renowned journalist and senior editor to resign from the channel following the channel’s acquisition by Adani Group in December 2022. Ravish Kumar left the channel soon after Adani Group acquired NDTV. Subsequently, NDTV’s Group President, Suparna Singh, Chief Strategy Officer, Arijit Chatterjee and Chief Technology and Product Officer, Kawaljit Singh Bedi also left the channel. After this, Srinivasan Jain and Nidhi Razdan also left the post. Apparently, this was the only job Sarah had from the beginning.
