Sanjeeta Bhattacharya was born on Saturday, 20 May 1995 (age 28 years; as of 2023) in New Delhi, India. Her zodiac sign is Taurus. She started taking piano lessons when she turned 5. By the age of 7, she started learning kathak from Pandit Birju Maharaj. She did her graduation from the Berklee School of Music.

Career

Acting 

Sanjeeta made her acting debut in 2021 and played the role of Muskaan in the Netflix series Feels Like Ishq. In 2022, she played the role of Juhi Shergill in the ZEE5 show The Broken News. Sanjeeta has also acted in the Bollywood film Jawan (2023) starring Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara.

Singing 

During her graduation from Berkley College of Music, Sanjeeta became famous for her performance which paid tribute to A. R. Rahman. During her time at Berklee, she was part of the first Global Indian music ensemble, the Berklee Indian Ensemble. The debut album of the Ensemble, “Shuruaat” was also Sanjeeta’s debut album. Later, she released many singles including I Will Wait (2017), Natsukashii (2018), Shams (2019), Everything’s Fine? (2020), and UDDCHALEIN (2022). Her music style includes a reflection of R&B, Latin and Jazz and revolves around stories related to her personal experiences, her single Khoya Sa (2021) was a representation of a modern queer woman who is confused to see the idea of conventional love in the sub-urban India. she has performed in many festivals including Panama Jazz Festival, Hornbill Festival, NH7 Weekender, and Magnetic Fields Festival. she also plays Balkan music and flamenco.

  • Sanjeeta is known as a jazz musician, but she does not prefer categorizing her music. In an interview, she said,

    I have roots in Indian classical Hindustani music. In school, I sang RnB, pop, choir music and so on. After which I explored many more genres like flamenco, Balkan folk, Latin American music etc and all of these reflect the music I make.”
