Sangay Tsheltrim was born on Wednesday, 10 March 1982 (age 41 years; as of 2023) in Phuentsholing, District Chukha, Bhutan. His zodiac sign is Pisces. He received his schooling at Yangchenphu Higher Secondary School in Bhutan. In 2001, Sangay Tsheltrim joined the National Defense Academy (NDA), Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi for graduation. Later, he pursued post-graduation from the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun.

Sangay Tsheltrim then joined the Royal Bhutan Army in December 2005 and served there for 2 years. Subsequently, in June 2008 he was promoted to Captain in the Royal Body Guards in Bhutan.

After serving His Majesty the King of Bhutan and the Royal Family for five years, Sangay Tsheltrim pursued his passion of bodybuilding and took voluntary retirement from the army in 2013.

Sangay Tsheltrim began competing in various bodybuilding championships and won two gold medals, two bronze medals and one silver medal at the National Bodybuilding Championships in Bhutan. In 2015, he participated in the Asian Bodybuilding Championships held in Uzbekistan and won two gold medals, two bronze medals and one silver medal. After this, Sangay Tcheltrim won the bronze medal in the Asian Bodybuilding Championship held in Macau in 2016.
