Sandeep Singh is a resident of Kalanwali village in Sirsa district of Haryana. His father had gone to the village a few years before his birth. According to his neighbours, Sandeep’s family did not interact much with the villagers. In his teenage years, Sandeep was very active in sports and played Kabaddi. He had won many medals and trophies in sports. Initially he used to work as a laborer with his father.

Sandeep Singh is a drug addict and has been involved in drug trafficking for some years (according to his family members and villagers). While talking to the media, Sandeep’s father Baldev told that after taking drugs, Sandeep often used to beat his father. He further told that once he had even thrown his father out of the house. Involvement in Moosewala murder case

Punjabi singer and Congress leader Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead by some unknown assailants in Punjab’s Mansa district on 29 May 2022. After his murder, some Indian gangsters like Goldie Brar, Sachin Bishnoi and Lawrence Bishnoi took responsibility for his murder by announcing it through their respective Facebook accounts.

Later, during the investigation, the Mansa police found a CCTV footage in which Sidhu Moosewala was seen taking a selfie with a group of people, minutes before his murder. After further investigation, the police found out that it was Crab who, disguised as a fan, took some selfies with Moosewala and then informed the shooters about Sidhu’s whereabouts.

The police caught the crab from Sirsa in June 2022 and produced it in the Mansa district court. It is being told that the court has sent him on police remand for 11 days. During interrogation, Sandeep revealed that he along with his friend Nikku had gone to her house in Moosewala along with nearby village Takhatmal, where they took selfies with her. He stayed there for about 40 minutes. After this, they went ahead on the motorcycle and after covering some distance, his friend sat in a car, while Crab went on the motorcycle. Soon, he passed the information on to the shooters. He informed them about Sidhu’s activities and the absence of his security guards. He further told the police that on the orders of the shooters, he had been doing recce of Moosewala for a long time.

After interrogation, a police officer while talking to a media person said,

On the evening of 29th May, Kekra along with some of his friends went to Moosewala’s house. He waited outside his house for about an hour and when Moosewala came out of his house, he took a selfie with him. He was also seen roaming around the Thar (Moosewala’s vehicle), possibly to see who was accompanying the singer. And when Moosewala left, Crab is said to have informed the shooters minutes before his murder that he was driving the car and had no security guard accompanying him.

Later, while talking to the media, Sandeep’s father told that Sandeep’s aunt lives in Musa village of Mansa and Crab often used to come to their house. Baldev further said that Sandeep was away from his home most of the time and had last left the house about two weeks ago.

According to the police, the miscreants had deliberately chosen Crab for this work because he was well aware of the surrounding environment and also had a safe place to live. Speaking to the media, ADGP Pramod Ban, head of the Anti-Gangster Task Force in Punjab, said,

On the instructions of Goldie Brar and Sachin Thapan, Crab, posing as his fan, kept an eye on the singer’s activities. When the singer was leaving his house minutes before his murder, Crab also took a selfie with him.

He added,

Crab has shared all the inputs such as whether the singer was not accompanied by his security personnel, the number of people on board, details of the vehicle and whether he is traveling in a non-bullet-proof vehicle, including the shooter and handler operating from abroad. .
