Sana Talikoti is the daughter of the Indian counterfeiter Abdul Karim Telgi, who was convicted in the 2003 stamp paper scam. Sana hit the headlines in December 2022 when she filed a lawsuit against director Hansal Mehta for making a series on the 2003 scam involving her family, especially her father.

Her father, Abdul Karim Telgi, was the main convict in the 2003 stamp paper scam. He died due to multiple organ failure in Bengaluru jail on 23 October 2017. Sana’s mother, Shahida Telgi, was also accused in the case. In 2022, she died of prolonged illness.

In an interview, she claimed that the series was based on a book with factual inaccuracies, which violated her family’s right to privacy, dignity, and self-respect; however, the production company later argued that information about the family and the scam was already in the public domain as a result of which the right to privacy no longer applied. The Mumbai court, on the other hand, rejected Sana’s request to stop the release of the web series in the same year.
