Sambit Patra was born on 13 December 1974 (age 48 years; as in 2022) in Dhanbad, Jharkhand. He received his education from Chinmay Vidyalaya, Bokaro. He did MBBS from VSS Medical College and Hospital and Master of Surgery (MS) in General Surgery from SCB Medical College, Cuttack in 2002. Subsequently, he passed the UPSC Combined Medical Services Examination and was appointed. Hindu Rao Hospital, Delhi As a medical officer. He is the founder of Swaraj, an NGO working for the liberation of Dalits. He was appointed as the national spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2011 and holds the post till date. During the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Patra had emerged as the face of BJP in Delhi media to express his opinion in favor of BJP across the country.

Sambit Patra was an excellent student since childhood as well as an impressive speaker. During his service as medical officer at Hindu Rao Hospital, Patra founded an NGO, Swaraj, in 2006, which works together to improve standards of health and education for Dalits in the regions of Odisha and Chhattisgarh. In 2011, Patra resigned from the post of Medical Officer of Hindu Rao Hospital and joined BJP. He contested the elections from Kashmiri Gate in 2012 on BJP ticket but lost. His talent lies in his quick reaction to support his opinion on any fact or situation in a simple way. For this, he was well recognized by the party and soon in the year 2011 he was selected as the national spokesperson of BJP and since then he has been representing the views of BJP on various platforms including debates, speeches. He is often seen pointing out the illegalities and atrocities of the Congress Party on Twitter. Currently, he serves as an Independent Board Director of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited.
