Krishnaprasad Sai Pratik was born on Wednesday, 3 May 2000 (age 23 years; as in 2024) in Bengaluru, Karnataka. He attended Jain (Deemed University) in Bengaluru, Karnataka, where he studied commerce.

Of. Sai Pratik got involved in sports when he was nine years old. He started playing football and switched to badminton after a knee injury. Pratik started badminton training at ITI Sports Club. He then started training at the i-Sports (Innovative Sports) Badminton School in Bengaluru, Karnataka under coach Krishna Kumar. In an interview, Pratik revealed that he used to start training every day at 4:30 am at the Sri Kanteerava Outdoor Stadium in Bengaluru with his coach BN Sudhakar. After this he does a two-hour training session at 10:30 in the morning and another training session in the evening. He further said that he focused on academics amid his training.
As of 2023, Pratik has won three titles and five runner-ups in the BWF International Challenge/Series along with one runner-up finish in the BWF (Badminton World Federation) World Tour. In 2022, Mandya Bulls bought Pratik for Rs. 3.5 lakh in the Grand Prix Badminton League (GPBL) auction. However, Mandya Bulls team lost in the final round of GPBL. Prateek was part of the Indian team that won the men’s team event at the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China. His teammates were Prannoy HS, Lakshya Sen, Srikanth Kidambi, Mithun Manjunath, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, Chirag Shetty, Arjun MR, Dhruv Kapila and Rohan Kapoor.
As of 2023, Pratik is ranked 124th in the world in men’s doubles and 72nd in the world in mixed doubles.
