Sachin Rajesh Pilot is an Indian politician and one of the important leaders of the Indian National Congress. Following in his father’s footsteps, Pilot has been a lieutenant in the Indian Army and has also been an important politician. Apart from being an MP in the 14th and 15th Lok Sabha, he has also held the charge of Corporate Affairs Ministry in the Manmohan Singh government.

Sachin Pilot was born on 7 September 1977 in a Gujjar family in Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, India. His father, Rajesh Pilot, was a pilot in the Indian Air Force and a well-known politician from the Indian National Congress. His mother, Rama Pilot, was also a politician; Member of Rajasthan Legislative Assembly and Indian Parliament. Sachin received his primary education from Air Force Bal Bharti School, New Delhi. For his higher education, he joined St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University and completed his Bachelor of Arts. He also attended IMT Ghaziabad to obtain a Diploma in Marketing. To pursue an MBA, he attended the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, United States.

In 2014, he was appointed President of Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Sachin was defeated by BJP’s Sanwarlal Jat by a margin of 1,71,983 votes. Amidst the increasing tension between Pilot and Ashok Gehlot, Pilot claimed that 30 MLAs are supporting him and the Gehlot government is in minority. After this statement, speculations about his joining BJP intensified. On 14 July 2020, he was dismissed from all his offices in Rajasthan. Later, he shared on Twitter that “truth always prevails.”
