Ryan Lochte talks about almost getting divorced a few years ago.
The 39-year-old Olympic swimmer and her wife Kayla Rae Reid have been married since 2018 and have three children together, but things took a turn in 2021.
That year, Ryan was competing for a spot on the US team for the Tokyo Olympics, but failed to qualify, leading him to suffer a bout of depression, which also caused problems in his marriage.

“I went through a tough depression after not making the Olympic team in 2021,” he told his ex. DWTS dance partner Cheryl Burke on her Sex, lies and spray tans podcast. “I would always wake up and couldn’t even go out to take out the trash at the end of the driveway because I was so depressed. “I couldn’t even get out of bed.”
“My wife and I were about to get divorced because she asked me, ‘Who are you?’” Ryan shared. “She would wake me up every day, she would look at me in the mirror and say, ‘Damn pathetic.’ She would cry all the time. I let everyone down and I think that was the most important thing because I love everyone. “I have a good heart.”
However, he “took a step forward” to get out of depression and said, “what helped me the most was my family.”
Earlier this year, Ryan and Kayla welcomed their third child together, a girl named Georgia June. They are also parents to son Caiden, 6, and daughter Liv, 4.
