Ryan Gosling is one of the stars of the hit 2023 film Barbie. She played Barbie alongside Ken. The film has already won several awards.
Gosling says he’s open to performing “I’m Just Ken,” one of the film’s hit songs, at the 2024 Oscars. He has experience as the frontman of an indie band he helped found, but he admits that performing at the Oscars It would be very different.
“It was always in churches and cemeteries, not in stadiums,” he said.
Gosling says he hasn’t been asked to perform the song yet, but it’s something he would consider.
“They haven’t asked me yet,” Gosling says. “It may be too risky for me to do it. I don’t know how that would work. But I’m open to it.”

Actress Margot Robbie played Barbie, the star of the film. And although she was the lead of the hit film, the actress showed extreme gratitude when describing how Gosling as Ken helped tie the entire film together.
“It’s incredibly beautiful. Our Ken needed to have that,” Robbie began.
“We couldn’t imagine anyone else being able to do all the things he needed to do and at the same time have the humility to be Ken in a Barbie movie,” Robbie says.
Gosling details preparation for the film
Gosling added that he had an impeccable mindset while preparing for the film. He didn’t want to approach the role half-heartedly. He prepared for the role with more intention than in any of the previous films in his career.
“I wanted to make sure if I was going to do it; I thought, ‘I can’t mess this up.’ I can’t be the guy who ruined the Barbie movie,’” Gosling says. “So if I’m going to do it, I have to do more than I know I’m capable of doing.”
Robbie went on to praise Gosling for the extreme humility he showed during the film’s production.
“I don’t know if many big male movie stars would make a movie with a female director where his character isn’t the title of the movie. “We both felt like he wasn’t that kind of person,” she said.
