Ruthie Morris began playing music in her birthplace. She began as a member of “The Pockets” after learning to play guitar when she was 20 years old. The band also toured the music festival circuit and was able to open for major alternative rock acts such as REM. Their record label abandoned the band and they were unable to record for seven years due to contractual obligations. It was after the 1996 release of Rubbing Doesn’t Help. Ruthie then went to Seattle, Washington.
He then went on to play with the one-off group “The New Candidates” along with Curtis Hall in the year 2004. They released the 7″ single “I’m Coming Down”/“Set It on Fire”. Finally, in 2005, Magnapop was able to release their first album in nine years, “Mouthfeel.” And the reformed group toured to promote the album throughout the United States and the festival circuit in Europe and continued performing and recording until 2010.
