Madoc was born on 16 April 1943 in Norwich, England and attended RADA in London. She began her career with a number of films before becoming famous for appearing on Poem and Pints. Ruth is known for her theatrical performances in which she played various roles in many plays and musicals. She was cast as Gladys Pugh in the BBC comedy Hi-de-Hi!. Hi-de-Hi!, created by Jimmy Perry and David Croft, ran for nine seasons and 58 episodes from January 1, 1980 to January 30, 1988.
