Gladiator is one of Russell Crowe’s most important films and most recognizable roles. However, he recently revealed that he had some doubts about the role.
The 59-year-old actor’s work in the film earned him the Oscar for Best Actor in 2001. The film was so successful that more than two decades later it will have a sequel starring Paul Mescal.
Despite the overwhelming success, Russell opened up about his film’s script in a recent conversation with vanity fair. More specifically, she called it “trash” and explained what was wrong with it.
He also reflected on Joaquim Phoenix’s role in the film, revealing what made him nervous.
