To mention his profession, he was a simple owner of a grocery store, which was named after Bryant’s Grocery. However, there was more focus on him as a criminal after he was arrested for murder.
He was one of the two people who brutally lynched Emmett Till. Emmett Till is just a 14 year old boy.

Emmett Till was just a teenager of African origin, who happened to whistle at Roy Bryant’s wife, Carolyn Bryant. According to some reports, Carolyn also mentioned that the boy had held her waist and said some unspeakable words to her.
The incident took place at a supermarket owned by his relatives in Money, Mississippi. The incident led to the boy’s murder.
Roy Bryant and his half-brother JW Milam were able to hold on and decided to teach the lesson. But they finally killed Emmett brutally.
The incident gained nationwide attention. It was mainly due to hatred towards the African-American community.
The event also led them to fight for their civil rights. And ultimately, it ignited the African-American Civil Rights Movement from 1954 to 1968. Emmett’s body was found horribly mutilated.
In addition, his funeral was held with an open casket according to his mother’s request. As a result, the entire world saw the nightmarish image.
Both Roy and Milam faced trial following the incident. Although his half-brother Milam confessed to the crime, Roy did not do so while he was alive.

There is also the book written on this subject with the title The Blood of Emmett Till. In the book, Carolyn mentions the actual incident. She has also confessed that her words during the 1955 trial were quite fabricated.
