He shows his support for his country the day before the Russian invasion by showing a t-shirt with the coat of arms of Ukraine. Four days later, he replaced Darwin Nez in the 62nd minute and was given the club captaincy by Jan Vertonghen. He then received a standing ovation from Benfica fans in honor of invading their country during the 3-0 home victory over Vitória de Guimares.

Club Bruges

He signed a four-year contract with Club Brugge on August 29, 2022, for a transfer fee of €16 million, plus €3 million in add-ons. Benfica would also earn 10% of any future transfer, provided Club Brugge receives an offer of at least €10 million.

International career

Regarding his international experience, he played UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying matches against Serbia on June 7 and Luxembourg on June 10. On September 10, 2019, he played a friendly match against Nigeria. He competed in Euro 2020 qualification matches against Portugal on 14 October 2019 and Serbia on 17 November 2019.
