RN Ravi is a retired Indian Police Service officer of 1976 batch of Kerala cadre. He served as the 18th Governor of Nagaland from 1 August 2019 to 9 September 2021. Ravi was appointed as the 15th Governor of Tamil Nadu by the President of India Ram Nath Kovind on 9 September 2021.

RN Ravi, also known as Ravinder Narayan Ravi, was born on Thursday, 3 April 1952 (age 71 years; as in 2023) in Patna, Bihar. His zodiac sign is Aries. He completed his post graduation in Physics in 1974. After completing his post-graduation, Ravi worked as a journalist in New Delhi for some time. Writ of warrant was filed against Ravi
In November 2022, a writ of quo warranto was filed in the Madras High Court against Ravi by M Kannadasan, president of Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam of Kanchipuram district. In the petition, M Kannadasan alleged that RN Ravi was holding a position of profit as the Chairman of the Governing Board of Auroville Foundation while he was the Governor of Tamil Nadu.
