Riley Strain Said Her Drink Tasted Funny Right Before She Disappeared, Mom Suspects Foul Play

There’s a new development in Riley Strain’s case, when her mother reveals that Riley texted her that her drink “didn’t taste good” before her death.

Riley Strain disappeared in early March during a trip to Nashville with his friends/fraternity brothers. The body of the 22-year-old University of Missouri student was found March 22 in the Cumberland River in west Nashville.

The original autopsy revealed that there was no foul play. However, Riley’s family isn’t so sure.

“The family had a second autopsy in Tennessee, after the national autopsy, from a private company that does that,” family friend Chris Dingman told News Nation. “The original autopsy came back the same as theirs, you know, no obvious signs of trauma, like weapons, guns or knives, etc. But they were able to do a little more testing on specific items.”

“One thing that puzzled the family was that the coroner spoke to a reporter in Nashville about the lack of water in his lungs,” he added. “I’m not a crime drama person by any means, but usually water in their lungs means they were alive when they entered the water.”

Now, there appears to be even more reason to investigate a more sinister cause of Riley’s death.

Riley Strain’s mother claims her drink ‘didn’t taste good’ the night she disappeared

Michelle Whiteid, Riley’s mother, claims he texted her the night of her disappearance. Apparently, she said her rum and coke “didn’t taste good.” He reportedly told her that the drink tasted like barbecue sauce, to which she responded that she probably shouldn’t keep drinking it.

The text conversation convinced Riley’s mother that her son’s drink had something added to it at Luke Bryan’s bar in Nashville. Shortly after informing her mother about her strange-tasting drink, Riley left the bar and disappeared.

Bar workers, however, claimed Riley only ordered a mixed drink and two glasses of water. In the end they had to escort him out of the bar.

“Maybe there was something about him that shouldn’t have been there,” Michelle said.

Some believe Riley was possibly drugged the night of his disappearance. Others, including staff at Luke Bryan’s bar, claim he was already severely intoxicated before showing up at the last bar. In fact, that’s supposedly why they expelled him.

Professionals insist Riley’s death was probably accidental, but her family is not quick to believe it. The toxicology report is still pending.
