Controversy over leaked MMS video
In November 2016, Rida’s personal intimate video was leaked, which went viral on the internet. Six years later, in November 2022, during an interview, she accused her former fiance of recording her video and leaking it online. Rida’s ex-husband Salman Shaikh revealed the name of his fiance as Syed through a video on his Facebook handle. Syed worked as a director of photography in the Pakistan film industry. Rida’s parents were against their marriage as he belonged to a different community, but Rida somehow convinced her parents for their marriage. After getting engaged, they had a courtship period of about 3 years. In 2016, when Rida went to America for a shoot, her fiancé leaked her private video all over the internet. During a podcast, Rida talked about the leaked video and revealed the person behind it, saying,
My fiance broke my trust. I had convinced my parents for that and I had a conservative mindset so I wanted to be with only one person. He was not rich either, but when he proposed to me I accepted it. Three years after our engagement, he leaked my pictures when I was in America. People urged me to hold a press conference but I did not do so because it was their work and my tragedy that will go with me to my grave.
