Early life
Rick Genest’s date of birth is August 7, 1985 and his birthplace is Châteauguay, Quebec, Canada. Genest is a native of Canada and of indigenous Canadian ethnicity. Rick Genest – Death
Rick Genest’s death took place on August 1, 2018, exactly 6 days before his thirty-third birthday. His body was found after a fall from the fourth-floor balcony of his apartment in the Plateau-Mont-Royal district of Montreal. One of the police officers first told CBC that it was likely a suicide. But in October 2019, coroner Melissa Gagnon called Rick’s death involuntary.
Their examination determined that Rick died from head trauma after landing on the sidewalk. He also identified a high level of alcohol in his system with some amount of cannabis, without any “unequivocal” sign of suicidal intent. Unfortunately, Rick Genest was previously diagnosed with a brain tumor. Rick waited for surgery for 6 months while he considered his life and possible death, before undertaking the surgery with negligible difficulties.
Career and professional life
Rick Genest rose to fame and even had several opportunities since he was considered a living skeleton. He has participated in numerous sideshows and freak shows as an illustrated guy. Before getting his facial tattoos done, he was first introduced to the public on November 13, 2006 in a blog post on Body Modification Ezine’s (BME) ModBlog. Then, they called him for an interview in March 2008, when his tattoos were almost finished. In the same interview, Rick made it clear that he preferred the nickname “Zombie” to “Skullboy”, as he had been telling BME.
Performances on RzyM’s channel led to increasing media coverage and, notably, a June 2008 presence in Bizarre magazine. In the 2009 television movie “Carny,” Genest was featured as a tattooed man at the carnival. Then Marc Quinn found him in Bromont, Quebec, where Rick was serving along with the show “Alive on the Inside”, in the summer of 2010 at Carnivàle Lune Bleue.
As model
On January 19, 2011, Rick was present at Thierry Mugler’s latest Autumn/Winter men’s collection, presenting it on the brand’s website, following its discovery by Formichetti. Thanks to Genest’s participation and Lady Gaga’s advice, Rick moved on to the men’s clothing show. Rick’s involvement motivated Formichetti to collect him. Then, Rick was working with Lady Gaga at the Fall/Winter 2011 women’s collection fashion show. On February 27, 2011, Rick appeared in Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” video. He was also present in the sixth volume of Vogue Hommes Japan in an editorial, “Hard To Be Passive.”
At the end of 2011 he was present in the “Go Beyond the Cover” campaign, sponsoring Dermablend professional makeup products. In the video, a makeup crew covered all of Rick’s tattoos with his concealer product. The ad then shows him sitting down with the phrase “How do you judge a book?” Rick then continues to remove some makeup, from a part of his chest to expose the tattoo beneath it, and then returns to his face. The video shows the cloak rewind extension procedure. The marketable achievement of this campaign helped him secure a two-year endorsement deal with L’Oreal for Rick.
Rick was even present in the music video of Honey, the Polish pop singer. On January 19, 2021, the video for his song “Sabotage” came out. For the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con, Tonner Doll Company formed a limited version character similar to Genest, “Zombie Boy”. Furthermore, each of his dolls is a valid record hired by Genest (like “Rico the Zombie”). The version had only five hundred dolls that were sold as of July 27, 2012. In September 2012, Rick turned to the emergence of Jay-Z’s music fashion brand, Roc-A-Wear, for his re-establishment in Europe.
As an actor and musician
Rick Genest landed the role of “Foreman” in the movie “47 Ronin” in 2013. He was also present at the film’s marketing, looking at posters and trailers. But due to some post-process pressures, Universal executives wanted Reeves to be a more integral part of the film. Rick was virtually unedited since the last version. On May 21, 2013, Rick worked together with British solo artist KAV for the single “Dirty Rejects.” However, the project did not progress further after working for some time.
