Amir Wilson is an English-Sudanese actor who is popular for appearing in the musical play The Lion King (2015), the American-British television series His Dark Materials (2019) and the British-Dutch web series The Letter for the King. 2020).

The Shropshire-born actor grew up playing football and skating in the parks with his friends in Shrewsbury. He did his schooling at St Giles C of E Primary School in South Mimms, England. At the age of ten, he moved to London to live with his older sister Moya Wilson after playing the role of Simba in the musical drama ‘The Lion King’ (2015). Later he did a course in film production.

My mother is Sudanese and my father is English. I can understand more than I can speak Arabic. Obviously, I refused to learn this when I was younger and I really hate myself for that. “I wish I was fluently bilingual.”
In 2018, his father Paul Wilson died of a heart attack caused by undiagnosed asymptomatic coronary heart disease. His mother’s name is Nagla Wilson. He has two older sisters, Moya Wilson and Iman Wilson.

Amir Wilson began his journey as a theater artist at the age of eight, when he along with his sister played the role of Munchkins in the play ‘Wizard of Oz’ (2012) organized by the local theater group Get Your Wiggle On (GYWO). A teaching assistant at my school said, “Children, do any of you want to play the Munchkins in the Wizard of Oz for the local theater group?” I thought, no, I don’t want to do that, but I gave the leaflet to my sister. In 2014, he played Mr. Mayor in the play ‘Seussical’ (2014), staged at Theater Severn in Shrewsbury. In the drama, Mr. and Mrs. Meyer are Jojo’s parents, who face difficulty raising their troubled child.
Later, he got the role of Chip in GYWO’s theatrical production ‘Beauty and the Beast’. In the play, Chip is a seven-year-old boy who is turned into a teacup after a witch curses him. In GYWO’s 2014 Oliver production, Aamir was cast for the role of The Artful Dodger, but his name was removed from the play when he secured the role of Simba in the musical play ‘The Lion King’. In 2015, he received critical acclaim for playing the younger version of the protagonist Simba in the 2015 musical drama ‘The Lion King’. Aamir’s character, Will Perry, emerged as an important figure in the second season of the series and gained immense popularity.

Amir Wilson rose to prominence when he made his digital debut with the upcoming adventure series ‘The Letter for the King’, in which he played the lead role of Tiuri.
