TikTok will launch a “Retweet” button in early 2022, but what exactly will happen when a user clicks that button? The idea of resharing on TikTok is similar to what other social networking platforms offer. For example, Twitter users can retweet other people’s tweets, while Facebook allows users to share other posts from other accounts to their profile for friends to see. Even Instagram has a feature that allows users to share their posts and stories. Since most social media apps have the option to forward or forward messages, it’s no surprise that TikTok follows suit.
When a user decides to repost TikTok, the video may appear in the feeds of their followers. Reposted videos are only visible to the user’s friends, and this is limited to accounts the user follows that also follows them. Previously, TikTok only allowed reposts of videos from the For You page, but now users can repost any video on TikTok. Whether a video is funny or contains an important message, retweeting is the best way for users to share that video with all of their followers.
How to Retweet a Video on TikTok
To repost a video on TikTok, open the app and find the video in question. Tap the share icon (arrow) in the bottom-right corner of the screen, then select the yellow button with a white arrow that says “Front.’ Clicking this button will republish the video. Retweets don’t appear on the user’s profile but may appear on their friends’ “Recommended to You” pages. As with other social media accounts, content is credited to the original creator and simply reposted by the user.
Once the video is reposted, the user’s profile picture will be displayed above the original creator’s name. The user can also choose to click the “+Add comment‘, which will display their comments on the reposted video. When a user adds a comment to a reposted video, it also appears in the comments section of the original video, where other users (not just the user’s followers) can view the comment.
TikTok also allows users to undo retweets. The method works like a repost, the user presses the share button on the video and “delete repost.’ However, there are some caveats. When a user reposts a video on TikTok, it immediately starts appearing in their followers feed, so they need to quickly undo the retweets. Also, since the retweeted video doesn’t appear on the user’s profile, it can be difficult to find the retweeted video in question unless the user knows exactly which account the video came from.
Reposting videos on TikTok is easy and effective, and has changed the way users interact on TikTok. Although some users complained that the retweet button had disappeared from their accounts, this could be because TikTok is still testing the feature. The retweet button has since been rolled out widely on TikTok, and it looks like the feature is still here.
