She has three children; Bhavya Bishnoi, Chaitanya Bishnoi and Sia Bishnoi.  Her eldest son Bhavya Bishnoi was elected to Haryana Legislative Assembly in November 2022 by-election and is also the youngest legislator in the state. Her younger son Chaitanya Bishnoi is an Indian cricketer who was bought by the Chennai Super Kings in the 2018 IPL auction but later released ahead of the 2020 IPL auction. Sia Bishnoi is a Communication Design graduate from Parsons School of Design, New York.

Renuka Bishnoi’s father in-law’s name is Bhajan Lal Bishnoi(1930-2011) who was her mentor and as well as a source of inspiration for her. Bhajanlal Bishnoi was a politician and three-time chief minister of Haryana. He became the Chief Minister for the first time in 1979, was re-elected in 1982, and then became the chief minister for the third time in 1991.

Career

Renuka Bishnoi entered into politics as a Member of Legislative Assembly(MLA) in 2011 by winning the Adampur bypoll. She was elected from Hansi, on a Haryana Janhit Congress(HJC) ticket.  The seat was vacated by her husband Kuldeep on becoming a Member of Parliament. Haryana Janhit Congress was a state political party in Haryana, India which was found by former Chief Minister of Haryana Bhajan Lal(also her father in-law) in 2007 after breaking away from Indian National Congress.

She then contested in Haryana Election 2014  from Adampur Hisar (Haryana) constituency and defeated INLD’s(Indian National Lok Dal) Umed S Lohan by 14,652 votes .

Alliance with the Bhartiya Janata Party

Renuka Bishnoi along with her husband Kuldeep Bishnoi  joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Delhi on Thursday, 4 August 2022. They were formally inducted into the party in the presence of state BJP president OP Dhankar and Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat at party headquarters in New Delhi. Khattar believes that the induction of Renuka and Kuldeep Bishnoi in BJP would help the party not only in Haryana but also in Rajasthan, where the Bishnoi community has a sizeable presence.

Controversies

Renuka’s announcement with regards to power-sharing

While addressing an election rally at Narnaund in 2014, Renuka Bishnoi unilaterally declared that if

HJC-BJP alliance is voted to power after October Assembly elections, the saffron party’s national spokesman Capt Abhimanyu will be made chief minister for half the term after HJC chief Kuldeep Bishnoi completes his.”

Taking this action led to a raging controversy as BJP had earlier named another leader ‘Om Prakash Dhankar’ for second half tenure of party’s Chief minister position after Kuldeep Bishnoi.
