In line with the legacy of his father Shri OP Jindal, who emphasized on upliftment of weaker sections for national prosperity, Ratan Jindal has integrated Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) into inclusive management. He is the chairman of a 600-bed, multi-specialty charitable hospital and oversees two large schools. He has ensured that over 4000 students, regardless of their background, get quality education without any discrimination. In line with the founding principles of the Jindal Group, social commitments remain at the heart of their businesses. Initiatives like the 600-bed charitable hospital, Vidya Devi Jindal School and OP Jindal Modern School reflect this.

Zee Business editor Sameer Ahluwalia had taken legal action by filing a criminal defamation case against Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL), Ratan Jindal, Naveen Jindal and 13 others. This case is related to the Colgate scam involving Naveen Jindal and JSPL. The defamation claims were based on damaging statements in the First Information Report against Sudhir Chaudhary and false statements made by Naveen Jindal during a press conference on 25 October 2012.
