Controversy

Rana was embroiled in controversy in May 2022, when his fiancee Junmoni Rabha got him arrested. He worked as a Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) in Assam, where he was caught taking money from people and promising them jobs in the ONGC organization in return. After knowing the truth, Junmoni lodged an FIR against him and arrested him. Talking about him in an interview he said,

I am grateful to those three people who came to me with information about him (Rana Pogag) and how big a fraud he is. He opened my eyes.”

• A month after Rana’s arrest, his fiancée Junmoni faced corruption charges after Ram Abtar Sharma and Ajit Bora, two contractors, revealed that they had paid her Rs 50 lakh and Rs 13.72 lakh respectively. Due to these allegations, he was transferred to Kaliabor police station. On June 5, 2022, he was arrested by the police. In an interview he talked about his arrest and said that it was a conspiracy against him.
