Quinta Brunson is revealing how the recent WGA strike has affected her popular show. Abbott Elementary.
The 33-year-old stars in the ABC comedy series, which she created, co-writes and produces.
The strike has been especially difficult to overcome Abbott Elementary due to how the story specifically follows the calendar of a school year.

“Last year we started transmitting in September, when classes started,” Quinta told Deadline. “We won’t do that this year. It’s not like going back to a family show where you can appear with that family on any sitcom. It’s really like, what’s going on at school?
She shared that season 3 will have fewer episodes than season 2 “due to the strike and the broadcast schedule, so ABC has room on their schedule.”
However, the show’s creator is finding the silver lining. “We did 22 last season, and that’s a lot of television, especially for me because I write, produce and star,” he said. “So for me I welcomed a shortened season because it was exhausting, exhausting work. “I love it, but it’s exhausting for me.”
He Abbott Elementary The Season 3 writers’ room was supposed to start work on May 1, the day the strike actually began. When it officially wrapped on September 27, Quinta and his co-writers were more than ready to start writing.
Regarding the season premiere, he acknowledged that there is “a lot of heavy lifting to do” to “[explain] our absence… in a way that we believe engages the audience and protects the world we build.”
“So that was inspiring,” Quinta said. Deadline. “Building something that was both grounded and, for this premiere, eye-catching enough to draw people in at the same time.”
The actress recently attended Beyoncé’s Los Angeles stop. Renaissance World Tourand there were plenty of other celebrities in that crowd, too.
