Quinta Brunson is a winner!
The 34 year old man Abbott Elementary The star won Best Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in the series in the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday (Jan. 15) at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
“I don’t even know why I’m so excited. I think the Carol Burnett of all this,” she said in response to the industry legend presenting her with the award.

“Thank you very much. I love doing Abbott Elementary a lot. And I am very happy to be able to live my dream and perform a comedy. I say it every time. I love comedy. I am very happy to be able to get this. I didn’t prepare anything because I just didn’t think…oh God,” she said before continuing. “I love my mom, my dad, my sisters, my brothers, my whole family very much. I love my husband. I’m so happy. I love my cast. Love Abbott Elementary. Thank you so much.”
Actually, this is the 2023 Emmy Awards, which was scheduled for September. The ceremony was delayed due to labor disputes in Hollywood, so it was added to the awards season schedule on a Monday night. The Emmys will air live on Fox and Anthony Anderson will host the event.
