Queen Elizabeth II A British Monarch Passed Away At The Age Of 96

Queen Elizabeth II, Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, died on September 8 at the age of 96, ending her 70-year reign. The royal family published an official social media post announcing her death. The statement said the Queen passed away “peacefully” at her home in Balmoral. Another statement by King Charles III said that his mother’s death was a profound pain for the family.

He also said the Queen’s death will be “profoundly felt by entire nations, kingdoms and Commonwealth” as well as “countless individuals” around the world. The Queen died shortly after appointing Liz Truss as Prime Minister-elect of the United Kingdom on Tuesday. The late Queen is said to have suffered numerous health problems in recent months and is currently staying at her Balmoral residence due to “mobility issues”.

The Queen also postponed a virtual meeting with the Privy Council before her death and an official statement said doctors were concerned for her health:

“Following further examination this morning, the Queen’s doctors are concerned about her health and recommend that she continue to be under medical supervision.”

Queen Elizabeth II was immediately replaced by her eldest son, King Charles III, who became the oldest person on the British throne. Her death comes almost a year after her 73-year-old husband, Prince Philip, died in June 2021.

Queen Elizabeth II was born on April 21, 1926, during the reigns of her paternal grandfather, King George V, to Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother (then Duchess of York) and King George VI (then Duke of York). On November 14, 1948, she gave birth to her first child with Prince Philip, Prince Charles. Princess Anne, their second child, was born on 15 August 1950. Princess Anne and Captain Mark’s Children Philips, Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall, daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugene, and child of Prince Edward and Queen Count Sophie, Lady Louise Windsor and Viscount Severn James, are all grandchildren of Queen Elizabeth II.
