Prince Harry and Meghan Markle plan to travel to London next month while King Charles III and Kate Middleton continue receiving cancer treatments.
According to the BBC, Harry will stop in London to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games on May 8. The prince, who instituted the sporting event, will attend the celebration as a “service of thanksgiving.”
Prince Harry will also give a reading with Damian Lewis at St Paul’s Cathedral in London. This is notably the first major event the prince has attended in the UK for some time.
A spokesperson for the Invictus Games revealed to the media outlet that the 10th anniversary will mark a “decade of changing lives and saving lives through sport.”
However, the spokesperson did not say whether Meghan Markle will attend the Games ceremony with Prince Harry. She and Harry will travel to Nigeria after the Games anniversary celebration.
This will be the first time Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have visited Nigeria as a couple. Nigerian media revealed that the couple will meet with service members and their families, as well as participate in traditional cultural activities during their visit.
King Charles reportedly open to reconciling with Prince Harry, not Meghan Markle
With Prince Harry and Meghan Markle heading to the UK in a couple of weeks, King Charles is reportedly still open to reconciling with his son, but not his daughter-in-law.
According Mirror, Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams is open to a conversation with his son, but that doesn’t mean it will be a “warm” conversation.
“The King has always kept the door open for Harry,” Fitzwilliams said. “But that doesn’t necessarily mean he will always receive a warm welcome. He will take his time.”
Fitzwilliams said the situation has changed in recent weeks beyond all expectations. “I don’t think it’s too difficult, it depends on how you define reconciliation. “I think there’s a long way to go before Harry brings Meghan and the kids.”
Regarding Markle, Fitzwilliams claims that King Charles has referred to her as “toxic.” He also believes it is necessary to build “trust” before the royal will consider having an in-person meeting with her.
“I never thought Meghan would come because of the hostility towards her here,” Fitzwilliams noted. “But it must be emphasized that this emerges from opinion polls. And, of course, there would be press that was far from flattering, but related to the behavior of the Sussexes over the last four years.”
