Primoz Brezec began his NBA career after being selected by the Indiana Pacers in the 2000 NBA draft. Before the NBA, he played for Kraski Zidar and Union Olimpija. He spent three years with the Pacers before being selected by the Charlotte Bobcats in the 2004 NBA Draft. During the 2004-05 season, he averaged 13.0 points and 7.4 rebounds for the Bobcats. On December 14, 2007, he and Walter Herrmann were acquired by the Detroit Pistons in exchange for Nazr Mohammed.
He was dealt to the Toronto Raptors on February 21, 2008 in exchange for Juan Dixon. In 13 minutes of action, he scored 11 points without a miss, grabbed 3 rebounds and blocked 1 shot.
