When Preeti was 14 years old, her father Somveer and uncle Vinod Pawar encouraged her to take up boxing. She was against the idea and initially refused to participate. In an interview, he said that his reaction to his father and uncle was,

Main nahi karungi, boxing toh bildu bhi nahi (rough translation: I will never do boxing)”.

After 6 to 7 months of starting training, he participated in various competitions and won many medals. In 2021, she joined Inspire Institute of Sports, Karnataka, which started sponsoring Preeti. There, he trained under head coach John Warburton. Preeti competed at the 2023 IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships, in which she lost in a close contest against a Thai boxer named Jitpong Jutmas in the quarter-finals.

Preeti Pawar represented India at the 2022 Asian Games (19th Asian Games, known as Hangzhou 2022). To participate in the Asian Games, he participated in a 17-day international training camp held in Wuyishan, China. After the training he said,

I am absolutely ready. I have competed with different teams. Depending on the type of matches [available], I think I can beat everyone. It was important to adapt to the weather here before the competition. “It matters that we adapt to this season as well.”

Preity defeated Kazakh boxer Zaina Shcherbekova to earn a spot at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics. The win advanced her to the 54 kg women’s boxing semi-final round, where she lost to China’s Yuan Chang 5–0. Preeti Pawar is in partnership with JSW Sports.
