Prashanthini is an Indian playback singer, who predominantly sings in the Tamil film industry. She is the daughter of singer Malaysia Vasudevan and sister of singer Yugendran Vasudevan.

His father, Malaysia Vasudevan, was a famous Tamil playback singer and actor of Malaysian origin, who died on 20 February 2011. His mother’s name is Usha. She has a sister named Pavitra and a brother named Yugendran Vasudevan, an Indian Singaporean actor, singer, host and music director. In 2023, Yugendran participated in the Tamil version of the reality TV show ‘Bigg Boss’ Season 7, which aired on Star Vijay and streamed on Disney+ Hotstar.

She came into limelight after lending her voice to the song ‘Mundinam Parthen’ in the 2008 Tamil action drama film ‘Varanam Aayiram’. Some of her songs which feature in the top 20 popular songs on FM radio include ‘Ayyayo’ from the Tamil film ‘Aadukalam’ (2011), ‘Lolita’ and ‘Enamo Edho’ from the Tamil film ‘Engeyum Kaadhal’ (2011). - In an interview, while talking about her journey as a singer, she said,
My father was very keen that I complete my education and learn the basics of music before becoming a full-fledged playback singer. After completing my graduation in Computer Science, I got married and seven years after 12B, my next song was in GV Prakash’s Veyil (Iraivanai…). And since then, I have not looked back as I worked with Yuvan Shankar Raja. It was Harris Jayaraj’s Mundinam Partheni in Vaaranam Aayiram… that gave me a new lease of life.”
