Praneeth Vuppala was born on Tuesday, 2 January 2007 (age 16 years; as in 2023) in Telangana, India. Their zodiac sign is Capricorn. He is a resident of Alagadapa village in Nalgonda district of Telangana. When he was a child his parents used to take him to play tennis, swimming and other sports and from there he started playing chess and developed his interest in it. Later, his parents taught him some basic rules of chess and then he joined a chess club to practice. He also took coaching from Ramaraju, owner of Ramaraju Academy of Chess Education, for about seven years. He also works and trains with Israeli chess grandmaster Victor Mikhalevsky. He went to David Memorial High School in Tarnaka, Hyderabad. Later, he started studying at Vishwa Chaitanya Junior College, Hyderabad, Telangana.

In 2017, Praneeth Vuppala won the Hyderabad District Under-11. In the same year he participated in Telangana State Under-11. He participated in the 4th IIFL Wealth Mumbai Op 2018. In 2018, he participated in several chess competitions including Capablanca Main IM, Narcis 7 GM, FSIM in Budapest, 3rd IIFL Wealth Mumbai Open and 11th Triandria Open. In 2019, he competed at the Netanya Open, the 37th Balaton GM and the Bavarian Championships. In 2021, he participated in several matches of the Tuesday Blitz titled Vezerkepzo GM and. In March 2023, he participated in the MPL National Team Chess Championship held in Jammu, India.
In 2023, he defeated GM Hans Niemann of the United States in the final round of the Baku Open tournament and became a Grandmaster after gaining 2,500 FIDE rating points.

- On 15 May 2023, after Praneeth Vuppala became the 82nd Grandmaster of India, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao invited Praneeth and his parents to the Secretariat to congratulate him. The Chief Minister also gave him a reward of Rs 1 lakh. Rs 2.5 crore to support him financially and receive advanced training in chess.

- In an interview, he told how he felt after becoming the 82nd Grandmaster of India and what are his future goals. He said,
I am happy and will keep working hard. My next goal is to reach 2,600 rating points. I have not set any deadline but want to achieve it as soon as possible. My goal is to achieve 2,800 rating points and become world champion. But right now my focus is on my next tournament. I am going to participate in the Asian Continental Tournament starting next month in Kazakhstan.
