In 2016, Pooja made her wrestling debut at the National Junior Wrestling Championship in Ranchi in the under 48 kg category. He won the gold medal in the championship. He suffered a major injury during a practice session and the doctor advised him to take rest for a year. In 2017, he resumed his practice sessions and in 2018, he participated in a freestyle wrestling competition. The competition was organized by the Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Department to commemorate the martyrdom days of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev. In the competition, she received the title of Bharat Kesari along with a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh.
