Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl‘s Wayward Cave is home to various wild Pokémon, but finding the secret entrance may be difficult. Wayward Cave has two entrances, with the secret entrance allowing players to encounter the Pokémon Gible and other rare items.
To begin, the player should travel to the Southern end of Route 206. Here, players will spot two trees that can be cut down using the Hidden Move Cut to the right of the entrance to the highway. Next, players should use Cut from their Pokétch App and head north until they come across an NPC wearing a hat with a red feather. From here, the player should be able to spot the entryway to Wayward Cave just North of the NPC.
To make exploring from the main entrance to the cave easier in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, players should first use Rock Smash to make their way along the right of the cave until they find Mira, a partner trainer. She and her Kadabra will fight alongside the player as they battle other NPC trainers in Wayward Cave, as most battles in this area will be double battles. As they explore, players can find an Escape Rope on the East side of the cave and a Revive to the West. Other items include TM32-Double Team in the Southwest corner and a Rare Candy in the Northwest corner. Finally, as the player heads back toward the main entrance, Mira will depart.
Finding the Wayward Cave Secret Entrance in Pokémon BDSP
The second and secret entrance to Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl’s Wayward Cave is hidden underneath the highway. From the aforementioned NPC with a feather in his hat, players should head left and under the highway until they arrive at one of the pillars keeping the highway in place. From the pillar, players should take two steps to the right to be underneath the highway again and head North to enter Wayward Cave. Gible is a rare Dragon-Ground type Pokémon that is only available in the Wayward Cave if players use this secret entrance. Players can also find TM26-Earthquake, a Grip Claw, a Max Ether, and a Rare Candy.
Using the entrance underneath the highway will require players to use the Hidden Move Strength to move the rocks blocking their path. After defeating the Canalave City gym leader Byron, players can acquire Strength and earn the sixth badge. Once defeated, players should travel to Solaceon Town and go South on Route 209 until they find a tower to the East. Once inside the tower, players should battle the NPC trainers until they reach the top and are rewarded with Strength. Once the player has acquired Strength, they can utilize the secret entrance to Wayward Cave.
Of note, the cave is dark, so players may need to use the Hidden Move Flash. Flash can be obtained in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl’s Veilstone City at the Department Store in the upper left of the city. Players should interact with the woman behind the counter in the upper left corner and purchase Flash on the third floor. Alternatively, players can obtain Flash in the basement of Oreburgh Gate.
Players can exit Wayward Cave from the same doorway they entered, but it may be challenging to find in the dark. If players choose not to use Flash to find their way, they can leave using an Escape Rope, which will immediately teleport trainers out of the cave.
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl are now available for the Nintendo Switch.
