Piyush Gurbhele started his career as a dancer in 2017 with the television dancing reality show ‘Dance India Dance Season 6’. The Zee TV show was helmed by Mudassar Khan, Marzi Pestonji and Mini Pradhan, and co-hosted by Sahil Khattar and Amrita Khanvilkar. Piyush auditioned for the show and impressed the judges with his dancing skills after which he was selected by mentor Mini Pradhan for her team ‘Mini’s Master Blasters’. Piyush honed his skills with every passing performance and gained popularity for his dancing skills. Piyush was one of master judge Mithun Chakraborty’s favorite contestants and became the second runner up of the show.

After becoming a popular dancing face in India, Piyush Gurbhele decided to utilize his existing dancing skills and work towards becoming a dance choreographer, for which he moved to West Bengal and joined Dance Addiction Dance Academy there. Piyush participated in many dance and choreography workshops conducted at the academy. After honing his skills as a choreographer, Piyush collaborated with his best friend Sanket Gaonkar in Dance India Dance. They created a dance academy called ‘Sankush’, which is derived from the names of Sanket and Piyush. In Sankush, San means signal and Ush means Piyush. His association conducted dance classes in the states of Maharashtra, Karnataka and West Bengal.

Piyush Gurbhele got success in his career after participating in the Indian dance reality show ‘Dance Deewane Season 3’. Co-hosted by Raghav Juyal, Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa, the show featured Madhuri Dixit, Dharmesh Yelande and Tushar Kalia as master judges, and was aired on Colors TV in 2021. Piyush auditioned for the show by performing Dharmesh Yelande’s iconic dance drama on flute music and managed to impress the judges with his dancing skills. After qualifying for the show, she was paired with dancer and choreographer Rupesh Soni for the show. The pairing of Piyush and Rupesh emerged as one of the best couples of Dance Deewane Season 3, giving some amazing performances in the show.
The finale of the dancing show took place on 10 October 2021, where Piyush Gurbhele and Rupesh Soni were declared the winners of Dance Deewane Season 3 by defeating other finalists Sohail Khan-Vishal Sonkar, Gunjan Sinha-Sagar Bora, Aman Kumar Raj. Yogesh Sharma, Somansh Dangwal-Aakash Thapa, and Suchana Chorge-Vaishnavi Patil. Piyush and Rupesh were given a golden trophy and a cash prize of Rs 40 lakh. After winning the show, Piyush Gurbhele shared his experience while talking to some media houses. He said,
Like everyone else, our journey too had its ups and downs. There was a time when our performance flopped, even when our graph was going very well. We were very scared after this happened. But this journey was very fun and I got to learn a lot from Rupesh Bhai. After the show ‘Duo’ was made, we got a chance to perform together. Just before the announcement of the winner, I was very quiet and nervous while everyone else was relaxed. They were also making fun of how stressed I was, but at that time all I could think about was winning the show. When they announced my name as the winner, I couldn’t believe it; I was too shocked to react initially. But I cried and screamed with joy. It was a great feeling to hold that trophy. It was really a wonderful trip.”
Her dance partner and choreographer Rupesh Soni said,
I felt that all our hard work had paid off. When I agreed to do the show, I did not think about winning. I only thought about performing to the best of my ability because thinking about winning takes away the focus from performance.”

- Piyush Gurbhele considers Dharmesh Yelande as his biggest inspiration for dance. He gave his ‘Dance Deewane’ audition on the same track on which Dharmesh gave his first audition, his look was also similar to him. In an interview, Piyush said that Dharmesh helped him throughout his journey in Dance Deewane. Talking about Dharmesh Yelande he said,
He always used to take my autograph when I performed well. When we were declared winners, I hugged Dharmesh sir and he said that I have performed well throughout. And whenever he was around, he would always inspire me; I felt very positive around him. After every act, he would tell me things that would help me perform better in my next performance. I will miss him and the way he appreciated our performances.
- Piyush Gurbhele started his YouTube channel ‘Piyush Gurbhele’ in 2015, which he used as a platform to share his self-choreographed dance performances. In 2021, he crossed 130k followers, for which YouTube awarded him a Silver Play Button as a token of appreciation.

- In an interview, Piyush Gurbhele had said that his mother did not want him to pursue a career in dancing. She always motivated Piyush to focus on his studies and prepare himself to get a good job. Piyush said,
When I showed interest in dancing, my father and brother always supported me. My mother was happy with my passion for dance, but she felt that I should study hard and get a good job. My mother was not at all against it, but she did not like it when I went for my dance classes and spent all my time dancing.
- Piyush Gurbhele gave his first dance audition in his childhood for Zee TV’s dance competition reality television series ‘Dance India Dance Li’l Champs’. He cleared the first round but could not make it to the Mumbai auditions.
- Piyush Gurbhele considers his dancing coach Amol Gotekar as one of the main contributors to his success. After knowing the financial condition of Piyush, Amol Gotekar gave him free training in his dance academy named ‘Poison Rock Star Dance Academy’. Piyush Gurbhele said in an interview,
I could not even pay the fees for my dance classes, so my father used to teach me dance for free. He has been teaching me dance for the last 12 years. Many times he even gave me money to buy shoes and travel. He has been a great support to me.”
