Philadelphia radio station bans Taylor Swift music before Eagles game against Kansas City

With the Kansas City Chiefs set to take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday, Nov. 20, the city’s radio station Q102 is taking an unusual step to ensure its team’s focus by temporarily leaving out Taylor Swift’s music from its play list. The decision stems from rumors surrounding Chiefs star Travis Kelce, who is romantically linked to the pop sensation.

Q102 radio show hosts Bex and Buster announced the move on Wednesday, Nov. 15, citing the need for full concentration ahead of the highly anticipated game. While they clarified that they harbor no ill will towards Swift, they explained their decision on air during an appearance on Good morning Philadelphia.

“Q102 loves Taylor Swift and everything Travis. [Kelce] and Taylor as much as the rest of the world, but this weekend we have to focus, so we have been forced to remove Taylor Swift from the playlist,” shared radio host Buster Satterfield.

Echoing the sentiment, Buster’s co-host Bex Maroun emphasized the importance of the Kelce-Swift rivalry, jokingly singling out Eagles running back D’Andre Swift and Jason Kelce, Travis’ brother, as the Swift-Kelce duo. What matters most in Philadelphia.

Swift, originally from a Philadelphia suburb, had been a longtime Eagles fan. However, his loyalties changed when he publicly supported Travis Kelce by attending a Kansas City sporting event in September, alongside Kelce’s mother, Donna Kelce. Since then, the Grammy-winning artist has frequently cheered Kelce on from the stands, although her international tour commitments often limit his attendance at games.

Q102’s decision to temporarily suspend Swift’s music has sparked conversations among fans and is seen as a fun twist in the lead-up to the Chiefs-Eagles matchup, adding an extra layer of fun to the already exciting game.
